worn bushes

my car failed its MOT on the rear bushes on the front wishbones. Has anybody had experience of either fitting the bushes or splashing out for a complete new wishbones thus giving me both bushes on either side. Labour isn't a problem, I have access to ramp etc.

all I've been told is that they're a bitch to fit, but could be wrong........

Access to a hydraulic press makes replacing the bushes even easier.

For ease and quickness, just replace the wishbones. £30 each or so from GSF. If you want upgraded, then go for powerflex. I managed to press my own in with relative easier (front-rear) but the front-front are a b*tch to get in. i rigged up a clamp with threaded rod, steel plate and bolts. For the front-rear, a big vice did the job easily.

cheers guys, having just spent almost 5 hours doing the timing belt and water pump I'm going for the easy option of complete wishbones. The timing belt was sooo akward to get at half the bolts. But the jobs done and the water pump looked like new despite the 93K on the car.

When I got bushes done I just got new wishbones put in by the local specialist. He didn't want to consider getting bushes out and reusing the wishbones, made it sound like the labour would cost more than just buying new 'bones.

I had the front wishbone bushes changed on mine recently by an independent Audi specialist near Bristol - hes cheap and reliable

I had quite a few things done during the last batch of work and I think from memory the front wishbone bushes were £70 to replace including labour
