Had an MOT today and it passed fine. However, when driving home I noticed some odd engine noise. Sure enough when I parked up I got the horrible grinding noise and vibrations through the steering. I had this about a year ago and a new alternator clutch solved the problem. Is it likely that this is the issue again? I bought it on Ebay it I don't think it was branded. Thinking of buying one from GSF this time.

As far as i'm aware alternators dont have a clutch.
If its happening when you turn the wheel it sounds like it could be the power steering pump...
