Hello All,

New to owning A3 1999 noticed one of the sills is corroded no holes but want to get it sorted, is it a case of getting body shop to cut off old one and weld new one in? Can these sills be bought anywhere? and if so where can I get hold of one? (part number etc)

Many Thanks

Jason

Sometimes providing the corrosion isn't too bad, it can be linished back until clean metal is found. Then treated with an anti-rust agent and painted over the top.

However if the corrosion has made the sill too thin you either one of 2 options. Have the bodyshop cut out the affected area and have them patch a new piece of steel in it's place. If done to a good standard you won't be able to tell it has been patched. Other option is to have the bodyshop put a complete sill on it.

Repair panels/sills can either be gotten from main dealers or a motor factors. Though if you are getting a bodyshop to do it, it would be far easier to just let them sort it.

It would also be better to stick to one thread instead of creating numerous ones about the same issue.
