If the standard unit works keep it and get yourself a Phatnose Phatbox. Awesome bit of kit, ive got 400 albums loaded and its a doddle to use via the OE head unit and yoou retian the OEM look and display in the DIS

I have a JVC AVX 44 as can change colours to match the dash and it has built in Bluetooth music and hands free kit plus it connects to USB hard drive and iphone/iPod.
Plays videos too on its own screen or to a screen output.
Can connect reversing camera to it (never bothered to tho lol )

I've got a jvc head unit mate, the oem one was knackered and picked it up from halfords, went in very easily and picked up a fascia too, looks smart

I have my old trusty Alpine ida-x001 matches illumination fine but an iPod only unit coupled to an mp3 boot changer ;-)
