Rear handbrake sticking?

Recently when setting off in the morning there is clunk from the rear, it feels and sounds like the rear brakes are sticking. First time I noticed it the handbrake had been on. However, the next time I made sure not to put the handbrake on and it still did it... Is there an underlying issue?

What car is it?

If its an S3, look into the Haldex thread, its becoming quite a common occurence for a fair few of us.

It's a 1.9tdi Quattro 8l. Didn't think it would be to do with the haldex...
