    Track tyre pressures

Mate we just need to blast round then come in and try to get them at 30/32psi when hot. Can't really set tyre pressures up when cold for the track.

Have either of you got some form of pump or wee little compressor as may let to much out and I've got a slow puncture

Lol! You'll be fine. Often driven back from drag strip with less than 20psi in the front. There's a bp just down the road too if its bad. Usually where you go to fill up at lunch if low on fuel.

I've got a gauge that let's air out too but nothing to pump up. We'll be fine.

Trial and error Tam. For open pit lane, adjust the tyre pressures lap by lap, using one specific corner for reference which is what I did. I have a halfrauds foot pump with pressure gauge on it! lol

aim for NO MORE than 30 psi hot Tam, I'd suggest starting out at 26psi all round at first on the 225/45/17's, perhaps dropping them a bit further if they exceed 30 hot. How much they heat up will depend on how you drive it, I start mine at 24psi cold now.

For the smaller tyres you can go even softer, A friend of mine with a mk2 golf track car on R888's in 195/50/15 runs 26 hot with fantastic results!

    Cheers for the input guys.

I think i'll start out on 26psi and see how i get on. Hopefully it wont be a wet one so i can get to try out my new/part worn ad048's.

like jojo said, its a case of trial and error.
my boss told me that when racing they'd have to check every lap during practice, and inflated/deflated in incriments of 0.5psi. And that starting too soft the tyre heats up quicker, so its not a case of starting low and hoping it gets to a decent hot pressure, because you might find you can start harder and still have the same hot temp.
anyway thats being pedantic, no one actually cares in the real world. so just go out and ****ing eat some porsches

I was changing mine by 1psi by lap, and the difference was either grip or understeer for one corner in my car.

I was using my bosses case as an example. He races
I asked him the same question before the ring and also adi ya see, and he went into the ins n outs of tyre pressures, like I was racing lol.

Depends on the weight of the car too.

A full fat S3 will need more pressure than a stripped out A3 which in turn will need more than a featherweight mk2 golf.

Toyo R888 for instance recommends the folowing:

    Below are some basic settings:

VEHICLE WEIGHT COLD PRESSURE HOT PRESSURE
    Very Light < 800kg 17 - 22 psi 22 - 29 psi
    Light 800kg - 1000kg 20 - 26 psi 24 - 32 psi
    Heavy 1000kg - 1400kg 23 - 27 psi 28 - 40 psi
    Very Heavy > 1400kg 27 - 35 psi 37 - 40 psi
