    TFSI Conversion anyone?

May have been posted before, But the following is a breakdown of whats needed to covert to running a TFSI engine.

Actually seems like a simple swap!

    Anywho, the link:

Nice.... wonder if that would work on a 2.5ltr TTRS engine swap too

Would be past worrying about that as it would have a GT35 attached to it lol...

This guy has a build thread on ukmkivs, think he spend about 5+ grand getting the conversion done!
    Word!!!

My A3/Martys Golf would smash that, and this guys £7000 GT9743 supercharged love machine.

Im sure it could be done cheaper.
Once you've completed the swap you could sell off ypur old engine to recover some of the cost.

Im sure someone with an A3 etc would want it to have more power

I think this was done a while ago when the 2.0 turbo engines came out so they were pretty new at the time

This is interesting, I've been reading about this alot recently as an alternative to a BT build. Obviously you'll get more power from a BT build but probably day to day that conversion would do sweet! Mmmm

Cant these handle a fair amount of power?

Its not something ill be doing - ive only just got the car haha.
Its just something i came across while looking into swapping to a bigger engine(dont ask why... i dont know), and figured it may help anyone who is going to do the swap.

They can handle a far few horses, but being Safe I'd pop some rods in and go hybrid! This is a good conversion!

I looked into this a while back, it appears you can use as much or as little of the TFSI stuff as you chose.

Apparently the 20vt head bolts right onto the tfsi block too.

I looked into the possibility of using a tfsi block to go 2ltr with all 20vt parts bolted to it, but I think the truth is, they're only being claimed as 'safe' to higher power levels because they're so much newer.

people are bending rods in these, just as happened with the 1.8t 6-7 years ago as they started to get older.

I think in 5 years time it'll be accepted that tfsi's need rods to make big power too, and there won't be a HUGE gain to be had from it.

Totally right! If your gonna do the conversion it's probably my safe to uprate rods anyhow. The ko3 tfsi engines are weaker than the BHZ and CDL engines aswel! Couple of mkv guys converting to a ko4 have had rods bent! I think the 8p came with reinforced rods, crank, pistons and pins.

The TFSI heads are 16v aren't they?

How do the port sizes compare to large port 1.8T?
