The pixels are away on my dash,I have the chance of a set of clocks,can I just swap over clocks ! Or do I need to get my own one fixed,will my car start ok,I know one cars need own clocks ?

Immo will need recoding to work... prefacelift are immo 2 iirc... facelift is immo 3 and more difficult...

I had the code from my doner clocks read by 3d in notts. This is an auto locksmith.
I then had a guy on mk4 golf forum fit and code them with vag com. There is a how to video on rosstech website iirc. Its a lot of trouble if you can just get the LCD repaired, I only swapped mine to full DIS

It is not exactly what TUFFY saying however it is immo2 in early 1996-1997 regs and then immo3 up to 2003. Also some of the 1/2 dis Jaeger clocks is immo2 even on 2001 year.
Vag tacho will help to get pin out from Jaeger clocks and vdo up to 1999 and then can commander or magic dash with all facelift clocks.
