Just got to work heard some clicking and squeaking from the front passenger side. I've just had a look and my inner cv boot has split am I going to be ok to drive it 20miles home?

Yes mate, no problem, ive driven thousands of miles with noisy CV's.

the less you drive it the better chance of the joint being ok once a new joint is fitted and greased, you will be fine to drive home dude and being an inner theres less movement

I was kinda hoping i could drive home as dont really want to fork out for recovery. Another question is do I get a cv boot based on the shell or the engine?

It won't **** the driveshaft will it if I drive it as I'm not off now till Thursday and need to get to work and back?

The driveshaft is made up of two CV joints, inner and outer. Inner is around £20 to replace. It wont harm the actual shaft itself no.
