Hi guys,

As a continuation of chasing an oil pressure issue i dropped the sump, changed the gauze and pump and was inspecting the bottom end and came across something i am not sure what it is?

The centre main has a "tang" like thing each side of the cap and they have quite a bit of movement in them (as far as the recess in the cap lets them move anyway).

I assume these are normal but is being able to move them normal or does it point to a possible shell issue and loss of pressure that way?

I dont want to just undo the cap as the bolts are £9 each!

Also, if i was to replace this, can you do both upper and lower shells without removing the crank? Ie. insert the upper and spin it into place?

Thanks, Neil.

Think I will leave the bearings alone and seal it back up with a new pump and gauze then... See what happens!
Thanks chaps

You've roasted the engine twice with low oil pressure from a blocked pickup, and your not going to bother checking the main bearings even though theres an obviously discolored cap?
