    Ko3s hybrid (K04-001) remap

I just like to post up that i brought a Ko3s hybrid (K04-001)from "beachbuggy"
Basically it is a K03s turbo fitted with the K04 turbine wheel off the S3/TT i was told it has the potential of about 240bhp with supporting mods
    Car is a Audi a3 1.8T with a agu
Running a toyosport intercooler, standard air mass, Saab red top injectors, S3 pipe from mass to turbo. Drilled air box with k&n panel filter and a forge 007 dv. stainless steel 2.5" cat back exhaust
Was remapped at jabba sport and result are.
    230.6 @ 5669 rpm and 296 ft-lbs @ 3690 at the wheel

I am very happy with the result now just need to change the clutch so its not slipping anymore then i have a bigger smile

A decent flowing DP would have added to it i expect.

Sounds a good improvement over std tho, so good work to you and Dan.

    Re: Ko3s hybrid (K04-001) remap

Awesome man, dans turbos are spot on, iv also got one of dans hybrids on my a3, mine was basicly a k04 with k03 fitment.

When you say you used a s3 intake pipe from the maf to the turbo, did you make it fit to the k03s cold side or has your hybrid got a k04 cold side ?

    Good results dude !

Those are crank power figures, not wheel power.

Must go well though with a flat power output like that!

Agreed it is flywheel, not sure whether 230bhp is good or not! As is that not typical k03s figures?

a maxed out K03S would probably do 230-235, but given hes running a stock downpipe/cat i dont think its too bad?

This is an equivalent k04-001. K03s but with the larger k04 turbine. Turbine housing is identical just it keeps the k03s compressor wheel and housing. I think with one of bills ported manifolds, a 3"dp and decat there's a potential for another 10% but this one as far as I'm aware is pretty stock and on stock rods.

Having just checked with Adam , as I wasn't aware. This is running an S3 tip as his original k03 one did fit on the k03s housing ( plus they're small and crap) but it was obviously a bit big

    Interesting stuff!

Considering it's a compromised setup I think the figures are good.

The S3 TIP shouldn't fit, the stock AGU MAF will be maxxed out totally, and it sounds like he's got a standard downpipe too.

As you say Dan, with those things sorted it sounds like there's definitely potential for more to come!

    Impressive torque figures.
B5 v1 Tip, Relentless v2 Manifold, Beach Buggy Hybrid, Pipewerx D.P and cat bypass, Miltek resonated cat back, AH Fabs v2 Intercooler, S2000 Filter, 83mm 9.5:1 CP Pistons, Brute Rods, Bosch 550cc Injectors, Oil Catch can, N249 delete, B5 Phenolic Gasket.
H&R Springs, Koni FSD Shocks, s3dave's rear tie bars, LCR Brembo's, 18" ttrs alloys, replaced all suspension bushes, 15/20mm spacers front/rear.

Now just waiting on my B5 exhaust manifold as the Relentless is goosed.

Ok i got confused as I thought it gave wheel figures my mistake.
I did take a bit of the old tip and cut it round where the maf fitted into it so it would fit in side the S3 tip as at the min i cant afford to get a new maf sensor and will take bit tracking down as the S3 maf runs a different connection so will need conection that fit the S3 tip but keeping wiring for the AGU engine (if possible)
I am still running standard maifold, downpipe and cat (its a running project) but think i ideally want to keep cat save changing over for mot.
I having clutch changed tomorrow so be able to feel what it like at the min then by sounds of replies i had from here i will need new rods (will S3 ones be ok?) Saving up a little more then a new maifold and downpipe and then another remap and see what running after that

MAF is easy mate. you need a VR6 MAF housing, not the sensor, just the housing, and your sensor fits into the housing.

they tend to go for £20-30. it's a real shame you've had it mapped without, as the whole map will need redoing to take into account the larger MAF, as being an AGU, EVERYTHING is done off the maf!

Don't bother changing your rods, I'm sure they'll be fine. I ran for 4 years at 290lbft, it's not held for long. S3 rods are no different to yours, so certainly don't go doing that swap!

as prawn said its a shame you didn't have the vr6 maf housing before you got it mapped but not to worry, im sure jabba will tweak the map to suit with out charging you the full price of a map. only thing with a vr6 maf is that its 3" and it wont fit in to a k03 TIP, and a k04 TIP wont fit around your turbo. maybe a reducer on the end of your tip going from 2.25" to 3" would be a good shout ? somebody will correct me if im wrong in saying this.

as for a manifold best thing to do for the standard k03 manifold is send it off to bill (badger 5) to get it ported it will flow just as good as any high flow k03 manifold you can buy.

i run a sports cat on my car, i have no problems with it, people say it will cause you to loose power but id rather loose a couple of bhp than my car when the vosa take the car off you for it not been road worthy!

I had the car in the garage today to have the clutch changed and while they were doing it they found the dual mass flywheel was shot too so they changed that for me.
Here me now thinking this would help but NOPE The garage saying it gets to 4000rpm and then if driving hard slips round to 6000rpm and wont stick so any ideas of what flywheel to try and get fitted to help it cope with extra power?

oh mate, don't tell me you got them to fit a standard clutch and flywheel?

AAAARRRRRGGGGHHHHHH. Epic fail of entirely new proportions

On a 5 speed 1.8T, you should NEVER change the standard clutch. it belongs in the Bin. what you need is an ABF flywheel, around £50 second hand, and a VR6 clutch kit, around £80 from GSF. that lot goes straight in, gives you a lighter pedal feel, and will easily cope with your power.

and the best thing, it's miles cheaper than the standard shyte.

I have an ABF flywheel in the garage if you need one.

yes i made mistake by sounds of it having standard fitted them
I no they both need changing but with just having standard fitted which one would be best to get changed first?

You can't do one without the other.

You change from a dual to a single mass flywheel, just doesn't work without both bits.
I quite often say I'm going to do things.

    Then never do them.

As Jardo said one goes with the other.

Sack them both off, I'd be refusing to pay for the new DMF as well unless you pre approved it.

Fit ABF flywheel and VR6 clutch and be happy forever.

    Word.

I've always driven A3's with VR6 clutches; literally always.

But I've just bought my girlfriends A3 off her which I built but haven't actually driven for over a year, and I had totally forgotten what a sack of ****e the clutch is. Once you've had a single mass you'll never want to go back, it just feels right.
