3rd Gear logs for Chaz20vt - Limp Mode

I've just been out logging a mapped (think MTM) for chaz20vt

As far as i am aware it is a stage 1 map with a FMIC and a DV (full recirc)

The complaint was that the car was accelerating and then felt flat/limp. The logs below show the requested boost dropping back after ~3500rpm correlating with timing pull that starts on cylinder #2 (8.3!) and then all 4 cylinders are being pulled

What is likely to be causing these issues for him? What else should be logged?

There was one fault code on the car:

16795 - Secondary Air Injection System
    P0411 - 35-10 - Incorrect Flow Detected - Intermittent

    Thanks in advance for help/advice

It a apy s3? Mine showed the same fault and cleared it, never came back, relates to the sai, just removed mine, believe they can stick open and cause boost issues but not to the extent hes getting with the timing pull i dot think.

yeah i scanned for fault codes for him a few weeks ago and at the time it had the following fault codes

    Code:
                    Address 01: Engine Labels: 06A-906-032-APX.clbControl Module Part Number: 8N0 906 018
      Component and/or Version: 1.8L R4 5VT 01 0003
               Software Coding: 05610
                Work Shop Code: WSC 06313
                          VCID: EED839A8AA91FF68439
    2 Faults Found:

    16486 - Mass Air Flow Sensor (G70)
                P0102 - 35-10 - Signal too Low - Intermittent
16795 - Secondary Air Injection System
                P0411 - 35-10 - Incorrect Flow Detected - Intermittent

    Readiness: 0000 0000
    I cleared these fault codes

I think the MAF error was an old fault code generated by a old split-R DV he used to have. But he has since replaced it with a full recirc DV and the fault has not returned

    Only the SAI fault reappeared

Well thats only making 213bhp with the divide by 0.8 rule sonits under power for a stage 1, could be poss maf, when mine went on my apy it only showed the maf code once then never come back but the maf was dead, new one fixed it. Has he checked for poss boost leaks? Poss do a n249 and sai delete them check from their, simple and cheap todo on the apy motor.

Delete both, both quite easy and guides in the stickies section.
I have apy and ditched both.
i have also done pcv delete.
This will basically simplify your vacuum system and update your old rotting pipes.

i dont see a problem with that tbh.
its just requesting alot early, which its never going to make. 1bar by 2000 rpm? turbo's only just spinning then lol.
then after that its meeting it.
the problem is after 3k boost request is poo, requesting 0.7bar at 5k, 6k, my standard map makes more than that lol.

you sure its an mtm map? its a bloody bad one if its request is so low.
i think that explains the low maf readings for sure.

as for timing pull, that amount of timing pull will make the car feel flat, aswell as the drop in boost.
to the owner: how much oil does it use? any found in the boost pipes, the intercoolers, and throttle body?

    p.s. log lambda values

i was guessing that the map went into some sort of protection mode seeing high engine pulls and cut the boost request

it should log a 'boost limit exceeded' type code and boost request for the map would still be what the map wants. actual would just be actuator pressure, if that was the case. actual would be about 0.35-4bar then.

il leave the rest up to tuffty and other more experienced people. but i think the problem is ze map.

edit: should have read you post more clearly, high engine pulls, not high boost. i think the car will just pull and pull it back, not affecting boost.

Re: 3rd Gear logs for Chaz20vt - Limp Mode

Sorry iv been working and only just got a break I only use normal unleaded fuel In the car and have done since iv owned it for a month now
Iv searched through all of the receipts and I don't actually have paper work for a remap so its only what the guy who sold me it has said that its a stage 1 mtm map
When I changed a couple of boost pipes and cleaned the throttle body there was a bit of oil in there but I though as I don't have a catch can that was normal

you should use high octane fuel especially when mapped. If you look at the fuel filler cap i think the label says high octane? I use Tesco Momentum 99. Some times if i'm feeling flush i'll fill with Shell V-power

    Hi mate
i forgot to add, a few weeks ago i was changing the old pipes from the n75 valve.
when i plugged it all back in, the car would boost crazily and car would take off and then hit limp mode.
The cause was the n75 plumped in the wrong way.
it gave a torque limit exceeded fault code.
the small feed from the charge pipe to the n75 was actually plumped into my tip.
Once changed back to the correct way it was all good.
needless to say i will be experimenting once the rods are uprated
