Hi all,

My newly aquired 2000 plate S3 either takes forever to reach 90 or usually never gets there and hovers around 60 to 70 and often gently fluctuates between the two.

MPG is also rubbish at an average of 22 to 24 mpg and I drive like a granny most of the time! could it be because it thinks its cold and over fuelling?

Could this be in need of a new thermostat do you think?

Cheers, Neil

Coolant Temp Sensor and Thermostat :)

Replaced both of these on mine and MPG went to normal and the Temp never deviates from 90 (once it's warmed up of course).

sounds good to me :) thank you

Just out of interest, where is the temp sensor and roughly how much did you pay for the two?

majority of the time fella it will just be you thermostat stuck which is an easy fix, i would recomend replacing it with a genuine part tho as the pattern parts dont have the best review. genuine ones aint that dear anyways

thanks buddy, I will seek out the genuine part then

Does your car have any history? Do you know when the water pump was last changed (chances are it was done with the cambelt)
