Gear box leak

I recently noticed a drop of oil on the gear box sump plug, the 12 or 13mm allen key one, is there anyway of checking the fluid level and where do I top it up from? What grade gear box oil does my a3 tqs take?

I've always filled a gearbox until it starts to dribble out the filling bung.

Where is the bung as I have a hole in the top f mine I can see the flywheel through but the bungs fallen out

No mate that's not a drain or filling bung, that's used for timing when doing cambelts etc.
The drain bung will be on the bottom of the box, the bung for filling will be on the front or rear face of the gearbox. Can you post a picture of what your looking at to help confirm
