My car used to go into Limp mod at 4k rev, but after today its hitting 7k rev

Can someone give me an explanation of why this has happened, becus I know nothing about engines

I've had my car for a year, and whenever I hit over 4k rev's it would go into limp mode (everytime), as tho it had been red lined

Did an airport Run today (snakes pass) and on the way back, i gave it a little welly, and it kicked a little smoke out. Since doing that (which I dont do often) Its now able to red line at 7k rev, it feels great, nice and roar-ey. Can anyone with knowledge of cars explained what may have happened?

You ever scan it before to see if the car put any fault codes up etc?

I bet the next thing to do is, to check the fault codes on the car?

Have you cleared the fault codes and have any come back? If not, best start investigating them.
