** 99 S3 Starting problems **

Hi,
Every now and again my S3 won't start or i need to give it some revs to start, but when it generally does start it starts perfectly.
When it has problems starting theres a really rich fuel smell aswell.

anyone have any ideas, fuel pump, injectors????

Have you had a look at the throttle body? Cleaned it and had it reset? Has the car been scanned for faults? Smoke tested for air leaks?

What does it do when it fails to start? Does it just crank over endlessly? Does it fire up then cutout straight away? Or maybe it coughs and splutters but never quite catches?

Mine does it when the tank is below 1/4. But starts the second time. I think it could be a slowly dying fuel pump!

It just cranks over endlessly!
