Changing to Brembo brakes !!!

Hi Guys,

I am getting my Brembo GT kit next week and will be fitting them to my car the following weekend along with new rear pads (Red Stuff Ceramic's) and bleeding the brakes..

Before i did this i had a few questions..

What's the best fluid to use.. Will Halfords DOT5.1 do or is this crap??

Is there any particular way you need to bleed the brakes on a S3.. I don't have Vagcom and have read a few post about running the ABS pump to bleed the brakes.. I have also read not to pump the brake pedal to bleed them as this can damage the master Cylinder..
I have a bleeding kit that sucks the fluid out from the caliper rather then pushing it out using a pressurised systems, will this be ok to use..

I've done plenty of other cars in the past but reading about bleeding a S3 i thought i'd just make sure about any special methods..

i did mine normal way without activating the abs pump, i didn't know about that till i read the same thread a few days ago, brakes work fantastic regardless, did a few braking enough to get the abs pumping then re-blead

i used halfords 5.1, love the stuff much more responsive than 5.0, not sure about changing from one to other think you have to flush the system completely to upgrade to 5.1 cos the fluids react (?)
its also plentiful

you'll also have braided brakelines with the kit (?) so should be an improvement with responsiveness anyway! fit and enjoy /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif;)
 
To be honest, i'd use super dot 4. 'ATE Super Blue' is fantastic stuff!

Bit confused about what brake fluid to use now!! Rich where can i can i get the ATE super Blue from if i wanted to go with that !!
 
what they mean about pumping the brake is not to totally floor the pedal as this uses a part of the piston that is not normally used and so may be rusty and could rip the seals.
 
It's ok to mix 5.1 and 4. 5.0 is completely different silicone based stuff they used in racing in the 60s and CAN'T be mixed with the others, but it's pretty specialist stuff and I would doubt you'd find it in a modern car.

Well any super dot 4 would be sufficient. You really dont need Dot5.1

Ok so pumping the pedal a little more then half way would be safe and sufficent..

Rich where can you buy the Ate Super Blue fluid from.. Had a look on the net and they all seem to be suppliers from the united States..
