Afternoon guys
Since speaking to a few of you guys about what to look for or check with my lose
Of coolant ive had a head test done on the car and that came back fine. Still cant find no
Split hoses and also changed coolant bottle cap as thought it might be knackered.
BUT
Still losing coolant and now costing me alot having to go to audi for g12 all the time.
Is there anything else i can check had it on vcds and no faults appered so now getting to
The point of being lost with it.

Thanks for the advice guys
Grant

If its losing a serious amount then it should be blantantly obvious. there will be reddy/pink crust around whereever its leaking from.

You also dont need to goto audi for G12, you can buy the correct stuff from your local motorfactors or halfords.

Drive the car until its upto temperature, then park up leaving the engine running, get the bonnet open and have a good look around. Remove the undertray if it has one fitted, so you can see whats going on.

the normal leak areas are the thermostat housing and the block connection on the right of the engine. Have you checked your bleed valve is fully closed?

Is there a pressure release valve in the coolant cap? If that were releasing at a lower pressure - could it be venting as steam? (it's just an idea I'm throwing out there - I'd still expect residue!)

Can you get UV dye to put in the coolant that might help track it down.

+1 to checking the drain tap on the bottom of the rad is fully done up.

Thank you all guys for your input.
I am new to all this so still finding my feet.
As you said i thought it would be easy to spot as the g12 is bright pink but havent had much luck
Finding any drips or pinkish stains.
@future - how would i check if the bleed valve is open.

Does anyone know of a audi specIalist around the gatwick area
Thanks for all the helpfull replys

If its not dripping out the bottom, then the only other places it could be going are into the oil (check the colour) or your burning it in the cylinders........

Three things to check: 1. Oil - is it milky. 2. Exhaust, does it smell of coolant ? 3. Compression test.

As said in post #3

4. Check in the car right under the footwells, it could be the heater matrix...
