You call up a local garage that had your car in for an MOT last year, so guess you'll probably still be on their customer system/CRM. You ask them how much the MOT and service you require would be, well aware that prices on consumables like oil have probably gone up. You get a "what do you think, same as last year" response, followed by a incredibly "can't be *****, you're wrong" attitude to further questions on the cost of brake pad and disc replacement (I want to supply my own OEM+ items) and finally have a quotation that is double that of any other garage you've rung on your lunch. So of course when I question this cost (calmly I might add), they get even more arsey.

How do these companies survive, in this day and age, when everyone is looking to save a little and also expects "the norm" in terms of attitude and customer service?! It f**king beggars belief.

I'm not asking to have my **** kissed, but does it really take that much to offer the bare minimum in customer service?

So anyway, apart from the fuming ex customer rant, don't use Peter Norris in Clapham.

Tufty, FYI these are the same guys that suggested a forum as scare mongering when I mentioned the potential boost leak (lower power than expected and your comments on the graphs I posted up a while ago). Lesson learnt!

Might just be the staff that can't be assed,i know what you meen though there is'nt any customer service anymore,
Recently my miss's bought a car from a car sales place which i told her not to,they said they would put four tyres on it service mot and hpi.she picked it up four days after driving it, radiator ******* out with water,on an 07 plate car,she told me the servive they said they would offer a week later,no tyres fitted (sales trick),no hpi,i went mad and at her.got a new radiator hpi service mot,but no tyres because the salesman left, yea right he must have been hiding, and a good thing at that.

I've heard stuff like this before....... Sales bull that tricks women.

And I agree, I don't know if it's because I'm young but when I bought a brand new BMW couple years ago they never once engaged me with any sort of politeness or basic manners. And I'd just crossed the road from Audi and told them to go eff themselves after how useless they were.....

Sometimes I think I can't give my money to these people. Manners cost nothing and go a long way in my book! There is no such thing as customer service anymore......

Just somewhere that you would'nt recomend, and try to get people to avoid, not good in the current economic times, there loss.

same thing today, but not in cars
Went to a well known retailers to get misses present (bday cooler will have to wait)
sales assistant couldnt be ***** to get product out of box to show me(product not on display) pulled up the net and showed the product online. Are you fecking joking, if i wanted to buy online i wouldnt have wasted my time and petrol driving there.
Some one else can have my money bye simples. and another retailer with manners got it.
no wonder there going under on the high street with ****e customer service

Dont get me started on customer service, I hate it when people cba to give you the time of day, considering you are spending money with them!!!

The worst is in supermarkets when the person serving doesnt even acknowledge you and carries on talking to the person on the till next to them!!! I always finish off with a loud thank you so much, you have been most helpful today and walk off whispering tw4t!! (Childish, but i get satisfaction out of it) :)

Thought i was getting deja vu then....turns out i saw your post on CS earlier then just read this and it confused me! It's a shame that companies employ such rude customer service staff, as the company could in fact be very professional etc but i'd do exactly the same as you; name and shame and never return!

I'm totally the same, good manners go a long way, once i get bad service i never go back. Shame really, I work in Customer service i treat people how i would like to be treated. doesn't cost a thing....

There's an inde-pendant VAG specialist in Milton Keynes (Bletchly) who have, IMHO, fricken appalling customer service.

Because of their appalling service I went looking for another garage and this led me to VAGTech, just round the corner, and they have bl**dy good customer service, the mechanics seem to know what they're doing too. ;)

It amazes me that in a world of internet and hard times, they don't think "hang on, he knows his engine code and is part of a car forum, maybe I'll hold my tongue and give a decent attitude".

Another forum stated an interesting statistic; get good service, you'll tell 3-5 people. Get bad service, you'll tell 9-15 people.

Funny how high street shops complain they are going under and loosing out to online retailers etc, no wonder really when the price is normally lower, delivery is cheap/free and you don't have to deal with some numpty who is about as much help as a punch in the face, and i paid petrol and parking to come here mmmmm.

If Asdas online shopping was a bit better id never go in and then i could spare myself the usual "would you like some help with you packing?" to which i would say "no thank you" and as soon as i say that its as though she's saying "oh dont need any help right you can have your shopping lobbed at you at 400 miles an hour then" - although now the faster they check it out the slower i pack as complaining to customer service gets you no where.

In recent times the best customer service we've had was in a Pizza Hut in York, the guy serving us was the manager, very polite, kept our drinks full and basically waited on us hand and foot - the result? he got a nice tip and when we returned recently we remembered how good the service was and went back, he wasn't working but we still got great service so he clearly trains his staff right, doesn't take much.

Finesse, are those garages you'd recommend? I've used Russell Auto didn't think they were too bad just wish there was somewhere a lil bit closer to me as i live near heathrow was thinking of trying Fontains.

Snap with Pizza hut, think their customers service has really gone up in the past 5 years, saying that, think we are slowly catching up with the Americans in fast food customer service on the whole.

My Girlfriend went to a chain of autocentres I wont mention who ;p, particular one in Basildon. Quoted her about £300! She phones me up told me what it was, think my reply was "no f***kin way!" Got the costs down to about £150!!!! They love to try it , definitely need a bit of savvy around you with certain mechanics.

Another place I wouldn't bother with is GSF Motorworks in Battersea. Spent a grand on my last service with them in Januray after buying my S3 and they couldn't even put an OEM oil filter on! To top it all, the rocker cover gasket they 'replaced' started leaking after 3 months. C.U.N.T.S

£1000 for a service? Are you fcuking mental?
must be, bought an S3 didnt he? lol

TPS mate, £40 for all the service parts
im imanging you had all belts chains and so forth changed.
its the labour that costs.
although if they cant put an oil filter on, i would be wondering if they ever did the full service.

volkswagenaudi in waltham cross, wanted 185 plus vat for a new thermostat. apparently they charge 50 per hour for labour.

a thermostat takes about 10 minutes to change. after I told them this ( politely ) they suggested I do it myself as I ' am such a ****** expert '

hows that for customer service

I've used AmD Essex (Thurrock) for the servicing on all the last 5 of my Audis and have never had a gripe with them. They know their stuff as far as i'm concerned. Given an absolute choice i'd be taking it to Bill but it's a 3 hour trip each way.
