a3 18t any good at towing?

thinking of putting a tow bar on my a3 1.8t stage one revo to pull my caravan its only light 750kg dont like the idea of having a towbar hanging out the back of the car though, has anyone fitted a detachable one? Are they any good at towing?

I've done loads of towing with my mums old 1.9tdi 8L, towed Minis and all sorts around on it, up to about 1200kg total,

used to tow an 800kg mini on a 10' single axle trailer happily at 80 on the motorway,

I think you'd be fine with a small caravan, so long as it's balanced to get the hitch weight right

A 750kg caravan would be about 50% ratio so you'd be ore than fine, the recommendation is for the caravan to weigh no more than 85% of the curb weight of the towing vehicle.

Weight distribution is important too.
