Main beam lights not working, but work when "flashing the lights"

I've just noticed my main beam lights don't come on when I push my stalk away. They come on when I "flash" the lights though! Last weekend I replaced the sidelight bulbs with some eBay led ones. Could this be the reason why or just a co-incidence? I hope it's not the stalk as it is a cruise control stalk and is only about 7 months old.

All other light functions work and cruise control is fine too. What gives? Any ideas before I get it booked into a garage? I tried searching but nothing really came up worth checking. Will vagcom help me with anything? I have vcds lite.

WTF.....now it's working again?!! Something is loose but what could it be I wonder? Oh well, if it ain't broke don't fix it, that's what I say ;-)
