Do ypou know the origin of the brake kit you have? any pics of the discs? I assume they are a 2 piece setup....

Problem you have here is the brackets... they will be set for diameter of 330mm discs and the offset may well be different too...

Assuming that they are radial mount calipers then you could replace the brackets to suit the diameter and offset for 323mm lcr discs... it may be an initial outlay of course but then discs would be cheaper going forward...

Alternatively Bill @ Badger5 does a 2 piece 330mm disc setup (same as I use on mine)... its not going to be a cheap alternative but more readily available..

you really need to find out what setup it is you've got mate. what the calipers are (part numbers is easiest) and what discs you have on currently.

If they're a 2 piece floating setup, they're not going to be cheap, AT ALL.

well to me they look like boxter s fronts part no. 996.351.425/6 - a common disc size with these is the 330mm off an alfa brera but you need to redrill them to get the right pcd. however i've managed to source some carriers for mine that allow you to utilise the 312mm standard disc size and save all the hassle. well hopefully.. they've not arrived yet..!

Really? most carriers for these calipers are for 330s, the 312 designated carriers are for Westys boxster front / rear type caliper with a 25mm disc.

you know the 996 fronts are intended for use with a 28mm disc don't you?

yeah but apparently this company i've been in contact with make them and i did mention all this and they told me they make them - If they arrive and it's as you say - which it may be - then I'll be back in contact with them! thanks for the info though - I did a lot of research and asked a lot of questions to gtech911 and he told me that you can utililise the 312mm discs...

If its any help I used to buy my Porsche "big red" brake parts from Type-911
Their prices seemed to be reasonable.

The thinner disk should work fine with the 996 calipers. It just means that the pistons will sit slightly further out the caliper, but i dont see why this should cause any issue, given its only 1.5mm

Just make sure the pads are kept 1.5mm above the minimum specified by porsche and you'll be fine.

As I said mate, the problems you have is the brackets are designed for the offset and size of the discs you have... your options realistically are:

    1) stump up for replacement discs which will cost but if you retain your existing bells then you need to make sure they are clean and you use new bolts...

    b) get some custom brackets made for your calipers so you can fit sensible discs...

    z) sell um for the calipers on eBay and buy a set of Brembos and some Brembo brackets from Bill so you can fit LCR 323mm discs and cheaper Brembo pads all day long and be a happy bunny knowing you are not going to be bankrupt each time a disc/pad change comes up

    Cant Alfa disc be re-drilled?

What would these calipers go for?

Discs for the Movit kits aren't cheap... 500 plus from what I have heard... QS Tuning supply them as far as I know so maybe give them a bell to get an idea of what they cost...

You could get some other discs redrilled but would have to be done right by someone that knows what they are doing I guess...

Have a look on eBay to get an idea of what they go for...

My friend dad does machinery makes custom in most things,

So if I had other discs re-done to fit 5x100 be fine? I'm quessing as I love the look of the calipers

Or couldn't I get Porsche disc and re-drill them

And take out the disc and middle from old sperate setup

I do believe, i have the same disks, and am just about to have the same issues as you. From what i have been finding out euro car parts are the cheapest for the replacement of the section of disk which still is not cheap, i think they were about £150each ill have to dig out my working out late and post it. My friend whith his evo runs these brakes to and he has just brought his a new set from demon theives and i do believe he paid £170 each.

We don't know what the difference in offset is, because you still havn't told us what kit you have!

Until you find out what kit is on your car, it's pointless asking the same questions over and over again....

all you can do at this point is buy an alfa disk and try it on the car.

if the offset is wrong, you'll need to have the caliper adaptors modified.

Tufty said what kit it LOOKS like, who knows if he's right? Not to question Tuftys knowledge at all, but I wouldnt be happy giving out advice on what you should buy when you don't know what you have.

Say tufty is wrong and it's not a MOVIT kit, and you spend £400 on some discs that don't fit? I guess you'd blame him then?

I think you need to find out for sure what kit it is that you have mate, I'm not trying to be arkward, but in this case, the only person who can help, is yourself!

Its a Movit kit as I mentioned further up bud... have had experience of this kit before... discs, bells and brackets are all proprietary... It was AndyC-S3's car... pretty sure he stumped up for new porker discs but they were fitted wrong as the garage hadn't cleaned the corrosion off the bells before fitting and they were not sitting flat

Well I'm thinking scraping the kit
Once I've found s cheaper option

Re-surfacing the disc if I can
    New pads

Then get 330mm disc re-drill them to 5x100 then see what happens and modify it to fit then

Would anyone no what brackets would be best or use the old ones and re-do them
