    Can you repair a leaky EGR ?? TDI Forum included

    Hi Ya'll,

    I have noticed a bit of oil coming out of the hole in the bottom of my EGR.

    After a few searches i have found out this may cause limp mode, can anyone else confirm this??

    And if so can it be repaired or do you just have to replace??

    Also the car is revving up & down alot, like an auto choke. It also tries to run away with its self when cruising at low revs, or no revs at all. Where as a normal car would try and stall, this feels like when it gets to stalling it revs up and off it goes..

    Hi, I have changed lots of egr valves due to the oil leaking from the breather hole in the casing but I have never had one cause any other issues.
    Have you had the car long as these engines don't stall very easy and will drive on idle in lower gears , just asking as when we had customers buy a tdi after having a td or a petrol vw / Audi they said the car was running away with them .
    Is your car hitting limp mode??
    Why was the turbo replaced a few months ago ??

    Hi mate

    What tdi do you have
    if its a 90, 100, 110 or 115 i have an allard egr delete kit im about to stick in the classifieds's

    Ignore that stuff on the us forum as its crap
    you will always find oil in the intercooler and pipework as the breather chucks it in there and it wont cause a runaway.

    Spot on , if you take off a lower intercooler pipe off a tdi motor there is a good chance that oil will run out of the pipe work

    Yeh had the car about 18month, but have had plenty of TD's before, just seems to runaway a little more than usual, might be me.

    Turbo was reconditioned due to the vaines been seized as the car was stood for 6/8 months in the worst weather conditions possible.

    Car is going into limp mode under extreme load (motoways, going up a hill) that kind of thing

    How much do you want for the EGR delete kit, as mine is a 110 and been looking at doing this rather than replacing the EGR, pm me with your price

    EGR Delete fitted (nice 1 cobra88)

    Runs really well until a hill or motorway, then limpmode not happy

    You tried adjusting the actuator .?

    I recon one turn to lengthen it and you will be there
    mine was setup wrong as where 2 i fitted for others recently

    No not heard from Damien

    You need to lengthen the actuator rod to stop the overboosting

    Loosen the locknut
    then remove circlip
    pull off of vnt lever
    unscrew the rod one turn then put it back on the lever
    replace the circlip
    Tighten the locknut

    Take it for a test drive and try 3rd or 4th at low revs & high load
