Hi ya Peep's

As titled really im after a bit of help with regards to reading my ecu using nefmoto. ive a 2000 A3 1.8T AUM and just wanted a little info, does anyone know what ecu i have ? without me looking would i be correct in saying it part number 06A906032DK . Also is this ecu ME7.5 ?? And lastly when read/writing is the memory layout for my AUM ME7 29F800BB when using nefmoto.

Any help on this would be great thought id ask here as i know there a good handful of lads on here with the knowlegde .

Cheers
Nick

An AUM should be ME7.5. No idea if your ECU part number is correct though, scan with vagcom if you want to find out.

29F800BB i believe is the correct layout for a 1MB ECU, such as those used on ME7.5 cars.

Thanks for the reply mate, i will go and scan the car now see what i can find. Idealy i want to back up my ecu and try a map file for the AUM that i have been given. I would like to get a remap done by a pro tuner but currently have a small list of bits that need doing due to a hit and run last friday and a bit of rust. doesnt look like i will have the money for a good few months to take it to AMD :3sadwalk:

Ha ha those were the days! Look at my post from yesterday regarding my ecu, using same stuff as you, all I will say is, make sure everything is 100% dont even breath whilst it's doing the map. http://www.audi-sport.net/vb/a3-s3-forum-8l-chassis/163943-oops-broke-my-ecu.html

Good luck!

O dear !!! just had a read, ive read through all the wiki and noticed it wanted a good supply of 12v without a drop. i was going to use another battery to help with the voltage drop or a charger.(note to self dont open the window lol) ive had a look at my ecu and have the part number 06A906032 aum , The AUM file i have is from a TT and has a file number 8N0906018AP. i see that beachbuggy has said to cloan a ecu it needs to be the same type so dont think the file i have is any good for my ecu.

I'll have to do some more research and learn some more on the topic i think, Any knowledge that can be shared by anyone id be gratefull.

Cheers Nick

I usedthis for the memory layout below (same code as mine), if that helps. Never mind the window, like I say just hold your breath lol, but please be carefull I don't want you in my situation!

Cheer's matey i will do ! im pretty good with electronics and computers as im a commissioning engineer on fire and security equipment. just need to learn more regarding auto electronics and the software for our motors ( Witch is a lot to learn). im only currently after reading my ecu and do plan to have 100% knowlegde of what im doing before i try anything further. would be good to find someone who can point me towards some info online if there is anyone out there.

Hope you manage to get yours alsorted asap dude. i also read another thread on a aum wanting to read his ecu for cloaning or a back up. will have to find it again

I thought the same mate I'm a little bit of a geek, not working wise, but I have allways played about with stuff, used to re-flash mobile dongles in there hayday and basicly unlock em, repair them etc (did a right trade lol) And before ye olde Virgin media took over NTL I did some paid fiddling of that (cards and boxes). Thing with cars is that there's that many variations of ecu, sensors etc it's a bit of a ****** getting it right. Thats why alot of tuners will say "specialist" for one manufacturer as it's easyer for them.

i dont believe that TT ECU map will be compatible.

I think the 018 ECU's are 512kb ME7.1

Your part number also isnt complete, there should be a character or two after the 032 part...

Mine is 032HN, but its from a 180hp AUQ engine.

Hi ya i was under the impression that the ecu's had to be exact. and that the TT file i have is useless to me. it is a 1024kb file tho.
i scanned with vcds and this is what the log gave me.

Address 01: Engine Labels: 06A-906-032-AUM.LBL
Controller: 06A 906 032 DK
Component: 1.8L R4/5VT 0001
Coding: 11500
Shop #: WSC 06435
WAUZZZ8LZ1A005994 AUZ7Z0Y1459193

Ive still alot to learn lol , i wont be doing anything till im 100% sure on what im doing and have so much to learn regarding the A3 and other VAG range, but im going to learn as much as possible. Even very experienced chaps learn something everyday

i think mine ends with DK ??

i can send you the file if you would like to have a look.

Dont suppose you know of any good places to research more online ??

Cheers again.

There's so much going on electrically on car's its unreal. im pretty much the same as you mate with regards to fiddling and electronic's, but i have a funny feeling it will take years for me to get my head around the 8L alone but im pretty determine to do so.

im liking all this tinkering with ecus and maps etc.
brave people, hope it all goes well, i do admire it when people have a go of things themselves, even if at first its a huge challenge

Cheers dude hopefully with a little guidence i will get there and once ive the correct file and a bit more knowledge i can have a little more power! Bless me in my poor little 150bhp haha.

Well i guess thats how all the famous tuners started.....
Its not black majik but doing it commercially it is your customers cars....

Most if not all the 06a906032 ecu's are the same, many can take the flash from one code to the other and if not the maps are very closely located so it's incredibly easy to find the map your looking for and then move it to your ecu file.

Before you attempt anything I'd suggest you learn how to flash your ecu in bootmode first because you will need it!

Cheer's Mate from what ive read of other people's problems this is a very wise idea.

back up the E2

and it is'nt as easy as some will tell you............

Thanks Bill from what ive read over the last few days im no where ready to attempt more than learning to flash in boot mode and from what i can gather i will need a galletto cable first and will proberly make myself a setup for bench flashing .

Thanks Guy's Much Appreciated
