from what i have read and had feedback from questions like this.
Dont get one, there crap for what you get. the fwd 1.8t sport is better.
haldex aint great and you got **** loads of extra weight.

someone else will comment with alot more/better info. but thats a run down lol

    Down to personal preference...
I have the fwd and it is fun to drive; lighter like marshall said, but i have also driven the 180bhp quattro just last night actually. Belongs to a member on here called Reesy - The car is quick and handles very well round corners definately more grip through the corners as standard. Might be worth test driving the two before you choose.

thanks mate, my tdi was fwd and i felt it handled good, so could only imagine that the 4wd would be even better, do you get a 180 bhp fwd ?

you should read on haldex first.
it only kicks in when the front wheels slip, so 95% of the time its fwd.

no you cant get a 180bhp fwd engine but like s33nyboy12 says, map it and youll get more then 180 bhp lol

tbh i would of kept the mr2 turbo. i love mr2's !! you wont make the a3 keep up with one of them without spending a fortune!

As above, FWD is 150bhp - Remap stage 1 and its 180bhp - 190bhp depending on health of engine

    Just a thought.....
What do you want from your car, power? Handling ? Both! Track or street or daily driver???.
What's your budget...... S3 fetching pennies now 225bhp as STD quattro ect so good base
By time you bought a 1.8t fwd and chucked a fortune at it you might swell buy s3 and be at good bhp from the off. Iv had a 1.8tqs a3 and there **** IMO , either fwd or s3 but as above you gotta pile a load of cash into one to get near a mr2 turbo for power and handling and cost.
