Sticking acceleration after pedal release....... Ideas???

As the title, some of you may remember I have started and contributed to previous threads to do with over rev.

I have noticed it does it without changing gear gear now I.e it holds revs for 1 second or so when I let off the gas without changing gear. Now I have had it to 2 specialists and phoned Audi , the clutch pedal sensor has been changed and reset and Audi said " it just does it, the tt does it aswell" like it's fine!

So I've checked for splits there is very little hunting on idle like 15 rpm which is fine I think and no loss of power at all, and yesterday cleaned throttle body properly it did need doing. Little bit better . Obviously s3 is drive by wire but don't know what this problem could be ......

So anyone got any ideas at all??? Like I said I've tried a few things now and problem still exists , anyone else got this problem?

It is well annoying as sounds like I'm granny shifting and not letting off the accelerator , when I am!

Last though on it for me is , Is the dump valve functioning correctly? Possibly dv malfunction?

    Any help appreciated, cheers. Sean

    Did you ever solve this?

I have the same problem, its like a delay between letting off the pedal and the engine rdoing something about it.

    Any ideas?

Hi Guys, I had the same problem with my old s3 last year, It turned out to be the clutch pedal switch. Pretty common apparently. Also check that the plastic plate thingy is on the pedal they can come off somehow and this makes the switch uses as it pushes up against it. Mine was there but I read up about it at the time and it was pretty common.

I have checked the clutch switch with a meter and it seems ok.

The revs also hang sometimes when you just let off in gear, so not sure the clutch switch would make a difference then?

If the dump valve is not opening quick enough could it cause this?

Did you cure this fault ?.....Mines doing this but it only does it when your driving harder & changing gear at higher revs, nothing comes up on vagcom, And i phoned audi today & they said the clutch pedal switch was £59 + vat!
The car's just had a dpf delete & re-map & im sure it never done it before the map :-/

Never completely solved it, but deleting the SAI and running a dedicated braided vacuum line from the inlet manifold to dump valve had helped.

Sounds like you have a diesel not petrol?

No throttle in them and no dump valve.
Possibly a dodgy map, accelerator signal, or it is running on excess oil from the crank case breather or turbo seals.

Have you got access to vag com?

Yep...dirty diesel...lol....(bloody dpf..glad its gone)...I had a mate from pro-drive take it for a spin & he said he thinks its the map not quite right & they prob rollin road mapped it when it really should have been live mapped?...or something like that.
Like i said, it never done it before the map...and it feels like its having a detrimental effect on the clutch & DMF because it feels like I struggle to get a smooth gear change now...even at miss daisy speed......but it only really does it when your driving the car harder...IE to over take on a dual carriage way....when your driving around town its fine...I would have thought it would do it all the time if it was the clutch switch?
I put it on vagcom & the only thing that came back was a blown/replaced brake light bulb from 2 weeks ago..:-/

Probably your map then, but worth testing clutch switch.

To test either clutch or brake pedal switch go into engine measuring block 66. When you press the clutch pedal one of the 0 will change to 1. Pressing the brake should change two of the 0 to two 1's (two contacts so you have a backup)

The figures should change with only a small amount of pedal travel.

Group needs to be either 6 or 66, are you clicking the go button?

Below is what you should see...

mines like that when i put in 06, but ive got alot more 1's & 0's in the second box......00101000........and that changes to 00101011...when i press the brake.....but nothing happens when i press the clutch.
Ive also just read this on the ross-tech website:
Some of the newer Engine Control Modules may use the UDS/ODX/ASAM protocols. Those modules do not support conventional Measuring Block Groups. Advanced Measuring Values will be used instead and you will check the boxes for CCS (or similar) to locate and view the readings.

thanks for your help so far jim ;-)

Looks like it's working then. What year / engine is your car?

    Who did the remap?

Its a 2006 TDI 170.....AMD in Essex done the re-map & DPF delete, I can understand them thinking it was the clutch pedal switch, they havent seen the car since the re-map a few weeks ago & it sounds like a common problem from some of the threads ive seen on here....I was due to take it back today but something else cropped up, so I'll have to ring them on Monday & re-book for next weekend....just a pain in the arse them being so far away... I think they should open a new one in Bristol...;-)

Explains why yours was in a different measuring block, I assumed it was an 8L.

Sounds like going back to AMD is your best bet.
