    stuartyj21 s3 quattro thread

    hi all,

i have had my s3 from april now and have done some minor work on it. firstly i gave the car a full serice including gearbox and diff oil, front and rear pads and also needed a new rear caliper as the old unit wsa siezed

while i was changing the oil and filter, i noticed the rocker cover gasket was weeping and the v belt was cracked so replaced these.
so here is a few pics of the when i got it...

also since i have been on the forum and reading through other threads, a common fault with the s3's are the dipstick guide and the oil pick-up pipe, so i have replaced the dipstick guide and bought the pick-up pipe to do.

so when i got the car it had 18"oz racing wheels as you can see from the pics but i didnt really like them so, sold them before i could order my new wheels

so up on the stands for a few days until theses arrived...

oh also got chrome mirror covers, which i think is a nice touch.

i found this guide very useful when replacing my sump. couple of things i would say, 1) dont be shy with the sealant, i caked it on just to be sure and 2) be prepared to spend 15 minutes removing 95% of the bolts and 3 hours removing the last few lol

What did you do with your old wheels?

Is it me or does the drivers side rear look lower, double check the rear spring hasn't broken mate

well, im having problems with replacing the outer boots as the d/shafts are seized to the hub and the cv joint is seized on the shaft.

so my mate ricky has spent ages slowly getting the shaft off the hub and the cv joint off the shaft only to find that the cv joint wont go back on the shaft, it only goes up about half way

so i have ordered two new cv joints and hopefully this will solve the problem...

    hi all, a small update.

finally got the outer cv joints done it took ages because the shafts have never been out, and were siezed so any future work should be easier to do thanks to ricky.

at last ther cv joints and new boots on
