Hi Guys, this is my first time on here and discussing my S3 but im 20, sold my Lexus IS200 and bought myself a Silver 51 plate S3 with 50k on the clock. I must say in some ways its lovely compared to the lexus with how nice the interior is and the speed and handling, but not as smooth and rattles a lot more. I have a few problems on the car and ive only had it 2 months. First of all there is a horrible noise from the front left suspension on speed bumps and the rears sound like they're gonna be just as bad fairly soon /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif The audi symphony system H/U has just stopped working (the lights stay on 24/7 but it doesnt operate at all)? And finally there is a squeeky shuddering noise from the clutch sometimes when parking or moving the car at slow speeds. I dont know how these problems can be resolved or if they're expensive to fix? I live in Hertfordshire and take my car to Chapmans in st.albans but is there anywhere else anyone would recommend as ive heard VAGtech in Milton Keynes is good.
The final thing is im in the middle of replacing the sound system, i've bought a 6.5' Kenwood touch screen motorised monitor with 12 disc DVD and 6 disc CD changers, Magnat 4 way 6x9's, slimline PS2 and Mac Audio front comps with both speakers powered by a Magnat 4 channel amp. For any of you with ICE installs am i going to have any problems having this fitted where have you put your PS2's? I was thinking of putting mine in the compartment in the front door and having the controllers put through the door cards and into the glove box if this is possible?
Sorry for the long post but I have a lot of issues with my car that i need sorting as its driving worse than a saxo VTR i had when i was 17! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif Thanks in advance for any help /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Hi,
Sounds like the milage is wrong or it's had a life,i'm also a newbe to the pleasures and woes of S3 ownership, nice cars but i find it hard to drive but then again i'm getting old ? just a little too slow in my old age to keep up with the speed perticulary the gear book which i find rather harsh
Really need a auto.
You never know you may get to like it.
All the best Merdock

First of all - Welcome to the Forum!

Sorry to hear about your troubles, but between us all I'm sure we can sort them out for you.

Have a read through the FAQ at the top of this forum. It will give you an insight into some of the things that are wrong with your car. The squeeking noise you hear is very common and it can be rectified very easily (Normally ARB bushes). As for the Audio problems, you'd be better off posting these in the ICE forum.

Hope this helps, and stick with it. The S3 does have some problems but they are well known and once fixed, you'l be very happy.

Rich.

Regarding the Symphony unit, try removing the fuse, waiting a few minutes and putting it back in - this should sort out the lights on but no one at home issue.

Also agree suspension noise could well be the ARB bushes

Opps didnt notice the reply by Strider - oh well at least we agree!

Well guys thanks for replys and friendly advice /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif I was told by the Audi specialist that it was prob the bushes but they said they wern't sure and it could be trial and error fixing it.. How much would i be looking to fork out for this problem? Sounds like good news about the head unit so could anyone point me in the direction of where id find this fuse?!

Gek - I live in Harpenden so yes thats probably me you see around so next time give us a flash so im not oblivious to another S3 passing by! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

The blade fuse on my concert was located on the very far left as u take the unit out.

my unit is working fine but for some reason my cd changer blew so be careful.

lads any idea on why the changer would blow like that?

Doh! not as easy as i thought! So do i have to remove the H/U to get to the fuse cos im crap at anything like that?!

I was told that wear in the top mounts of the suspension can cause drift to the left.
Mine got a lot better after 2 new tyres and a geometry check so I wont bother getting those replaced yet.

No, the fuse 'box' is on the right of the dashboard, if you open the drivers door you should see a bit of trim you can remove from the end of the dash - the fuses are marked to indicate which is which

so have i got it wrong by just replacing the single blade fuse at the rear of my headunit- it seemed to do the job with concern to the headunit but like i mentioned before my cd changer blew! any idead?
