Boost Controllers

Im pretty sure massively bad idea without alot of mapping work. otherwise the ecu requested boost will never stay with in the limits of the map

VAG ecu has torque control to control the turbo spool on part throttle... this makes the car feel drivable and smooth... fitting an EBC or MBC will get rid of this and will not only make the car fairly awkward to drive (unless on WOT all the time) if the mapping isn't setup for using an EBC/MBC then it will probably end up in limp mode most of the time..

One other myth that should be expelled while we are on about it... don't think you can add an EBC/MBC to get more boost either... its the same issue as above... the ECU will probably have a spazz or worse if the fuelling hasn't been set right the engine could melt..

EBC/MBC have a place but generally not until you are running bigger turbos/power or using an MBC to counter big boost spikes from crap maps or tired actuators..

on std unmapped car - agreed
on mapped car, depends on where/if they moved the deviation limits.. if ebc wont cause a deviation code.

ebc on lupo (eboost street) - works well, superb boost control, 2 x settings..
