Is there a buyers guide for A3s?

Dear A3ers,

I have a A4 Tdi V6 2001 and am entirely charmed by its quirky ways and fourspring duck technique. Time has come for another car for the missus and I am looking to get an A3 - probably costing less than £2k. Where can I find a buyers guide to the various engines and models and which to go for and which to avoid?

This is one I'll search further but I think the guides in the stickies may cover a lot of FAQ's
The cars are getting older but in my years of ownership a few common faults I've noted are the coil packs,indicator relay (hazard switch),alarm battery leaking,rear springs snapping,crank breather hose,split vac pipes,a few niggles but nothing major.
