    New car today, big problems!.

After wanting a audi for nearly 5 years, I finally got my s3 today but it's got problems. Firstly, on start up it smokes blue smoke and it really smells bad!. Smoke on acceleration however smoke comes and goes, on idle it's smokes all the time and when you rev it, puff of blue smoke however on trip back smoke cleared but it's back again. It so slow too, my seat Ibiza cupra would leave it for dead in a race. Also rad bottle water is foaming badly. What could this be?. I'm hoping it's the turbo but I ain't that lucky in life lol. Totally gutted. Any advice would be much appreciated!

Did you not test drive the car or check it before you purchased it?

Or did you buy it knowing it had all of these issues??

Sounds like it could be the valve stem seals.

Oh and welcome to the site!!

Hi & welcome to the site my friend.
Blue smoke is never good so get the car checked over by a local VAG indie specialist asap.
In a slight positive note, standard S3s aren't renowned for being particularly quick, though some mods will quickly sort this out, but as said previously, DO get the car seen to first.

I trust people to much lol. Got it on eBay, bloke has over 500 100% positive feedback and I thought it would be ok, I was wrong!. I just got the car without looking, yes ok stupid indeed!. No torque anywhere across rev range. Suppose to be remapped to 240bhp, feels like 50bhp. No oil in rad bottle, I've checked.

Damn, this doesn't sound too good Mate. Sorry to be harsh, but it sounds like you bought with your heart and not used your head, hence it looks like you've bought a lemon.

First port of call is contact the seller and notify him of the problems, see what he comes back with. Do this now if you haven't done so already. If you decide to get a refund, be firm but remain calm and be courteous. He may agree to reimburse you, but if he doesn't then don't waste time and start a dispute through Ebay. The faster you act, the better the chance you will get a refund.

The car is so clean inside and mint. I did let my heart rule my head lol. I have contacted seller but I can't see how I would get refund, I will try but if not, I won't be giving up on this s3. Yes it's gonna cost
me to sort but Im handly working on cars anyways so I will give it a go to repair. If the turbo has had it, would it still smoke on idle?. How much is a valve stem rebuild at garage?.

Yes it is. Even well maintained examples cost big dollar to run. I'd be trying to give it back TBH. Do you have vagcom?

Are you local to any specialists? (not dealers!!) perhaps they could give the car a once over and give you a definitive list of stuff you need to do?

You can prioritise the work that way at least if you decide to keep the car...

When I test drove my S3 it was fine, got it home (oxford to Enfield) and all went pear shaped. Had a crack in the cylinder head, which had some temp k-seal or something in it for a quick sell.

Very annoying but once fixed I'm back to smiling again, just had a much lighter wallet. No such things as mistakes only lessons. Theres a lot of crooks out there, have to be vigilant.

Blue smoke can be piston rings to but as said above more likely turbo don't think s3 are known for piston ring problems, what did the seller tell you they mention anything about problems?

Hello mate. Of course you can get a refund! If te seller did not mention these issues in the advert you are entitled to full refund or compensation. Don't be fooled in thinking you have no rights if you buy a second hand car. Visit the consumer direct website, everything is explained there!

I dont think you'll get anywhere with a refund. He must have known about the problems, and thinks he's swam the channel getting it sold as a clean car.
Taking it futher is likely to cost as much if not more than the cost of the repair.
Contact him, but dont expect anything.
As said before, get it to somebody who knows them, and see what the damage is.
