    forge 007p or 008p?

I realize the 008 is a newer version is there much of a difference in performance? Or just a different design?
    Cheers :-)

007p is great, not alot of difference between the two,i think the design to remove replace the spring choice is better on 008,and same with any redeveloped product, there will be bits they redesign for a reason.so i would recomend 008.

007PA for me I much prefer the adjustable boost pipe entry.

I'm running a splitter r atm would it be ok to get the remap with that and then swap over once the 008 comes? Or will I get more bhp with the 008 on remap? Cheers

You should be fine on the yellow spring once remapped as I've recently learnt, there is a forge outlet on eBay and you can get a full spring and shims set for £22 delivered

Yes it does. I got one about 3 months ago. Standard map & I have the yellow spring fitted. It comes with 3 or 4 shims, the forge keyring and 3 springs to choose from; a green (weak), yellow (medium) and blue (strong) and also an allen key for the lid.

It will come with the green spring fitted, I swapped it straight away for the yellow, and then swapped back when someone told me it's very bad for the turbo to have a yellow spring fitted on a standard map, and it ran like crap, so I put the yellow spring back in and never looked back.

IMO the 008 is the better of the 2 because it's so much easier to swap the springs and it looks awesome! I always thought the 007p looked a bit cheap (sorry 007p fans! lol)

    Hope this helps

Fitting a Forge 007/008 won't harm anything if fitted properly... not having a working dump valve is what will potentially break a turbo and using a atmospheric style valve like a Split-R or BOV leads to running issues on Bosch managment

As mentioned the 008 comes with different springs and a fitting kit so a worth while choice in my opinion.

As <tuffty/> says, this is not true. Whoever told you that needs to learn more about engines and turbos. The standard Bosch DV (diverter valve) has a tendency to break, especially when a car is remapped.

A forge 007p or 008 DV is also a much more efficient design, where a spring and piston is used, apposed to the standard Bosch DV that uses a diaphragm. The efficiency of a DV is it's ability to dump all the pressure that is in the turbo system, into the intake (or to atmosphere in the case of a dump valve or Blow Off Valve) when the throttle is released.

This stops the boost pressure from backing up in the system, when the throttle body butterfly valve is closed, thus stopping compressor stall, which in extreme circumstances, can snap the turbo shaft.

This compressor stall (or turbo flutter) is what a lot of people hear on throttle release, when they remap their cars with standard DVs still fitted. Because the standard DV simply cannot get rid of all the excess boost from the increased pressures a remap gives.

The other side of standard DV failure is that the crappy rubber diaphragm splits and leaks precious boost! Something that alot of the time goes un-noticed until someone fits an aftermarket DV and wonder why their car is so much faster!

The moral of the story then so to speak, is buy one
Damian @ DPM Performance has them at a good price

    Hope this helps

No you'll need a green spring.

    Just incase that doesn't work, the ratings are;

    Valve Spring color coding

    Green - 5-15 PSI

    Yellow - 15-23 PSI

    Blue - 23-30 PSI

    Red - 30 + PSI

Different valve altogether for a TFSI on an 8P

Don't normally replace them as the Forge one is quite expensive... think its this one

I know it's expensive but if I'm going to re map I should do this first right? I'm only going stage 1 or is the standard one good enough?

Not personally seen a std one go as yet but tend to see more 20v's than TFSI's when I am at Bill's so can't really answer with any authority I'm afraid... I'd ask on the 8P forum as they should be able to guide you a bit better than me

Altering the spring tension... don't worry about it as all you will need is the green spring... not looked at the 008 internally yet but the 007p's need a shim to cut down the piston volume so they react better... 008 is shallower so may not need it..
