Also im well up north think optimax is 87p a litre and normal bout 82p.

    Re: Optimax

I ran it for a while, trying a few tanks. I thought it seemed very slightly more perkier but I reckon it was just the old placibo effect. I dont use it any more and the car seems better some days than others.

You'd get better gains cleaning your MAF

    Re: Optimax

yeah i have noticed higher MPG and more responsive throttle

i use it when i can and am near the station that has it

(near me there is a 6pence discrepancy in prices at the pump between esso and BP/Texaco within 2miles of each other and so its lke getting optimax at no extra cost at moment)

    Re: Optimax

I think that on fairly new engines in standard tune all the optimax hype is literally that. The ECU on most new engines will not permit significant variations from the norm and therefore power increases will be exceptionally modest. The MPG increase is not, in my experience, offset by the higher price.

The value of optimaz lies with cars tuned to specifically require it. I.e. those that have ignition advance suited to the extra octane rating of optimax and similar, and in such applications you can yield useful advantages...

    Re: Optimax

My remapped S3 is much better on optimax. I put a tank of normal unleaded in last time and cant wait for it all to be used so I can get optimax again
