Pre vs Post facelift S3 rear diff

    Hi guys,

Does anyone know if I can replace my post facelift rear diff with a pre face lift rear diff that has ESP? I know most pre facelift S3's don't have ESP, but I've found one that does so I'm assuming (and hoping) that they will be compatible. Any ideas?

    Thanks

to be fair it's the haldex system I'm most interested in! My haldex mechanism has gone kaput and Dean from 4rings has advised me that I need the Haldex clutch replaced. I thought the easiest way to do this would be to buy a whole rear diff with the haldex unit attached and then just bolt on the new unit and connect it to my haldex ecu...

Found a pre facelift one that had ESP and wondering if that would be fine.

Yeah should be fine.. The only thing I'm thinking is pre facelift don't have an earth strap, but you can just makeshift one! The haldex should work fine to my knowledge!

    Hi Guys,

Just to give you an update on this. Audi have confirmed the part number from the donor car and my car are the same so I have gone ahead and purchased the rear diff. However, I'm concerned about the earth strap. Is this going to mess things up for me? Can I retro fit an earth strap to a pre facelift diff? Has anyone done it before?

The diff is with my mechanic and he is due to fit it on Monday. Does anyone have a pic showing how the earth should be connected to the rear diff on a post facelift car?!

    Any help woould be appreciated!!

Already spent a shed lost in the last month (new front ARB, new R32 rear ARB, new front wishbones, replaced the steering rack) so I don't want to waste money cocking this up!

EDIT - found this earth strap @ halfords Halfords | Halfords Braided Earth Battery Cable 22cm (9")

Actually, I've found some good pic here - Replacing haldex earth question!?!?.

But if someone can let me know if I can retro fit this to an old rear diff? Do I even need to?
