Hi Guys,

So as they say the saga continues!!!! The time has come for my 2001 S3 to have its main 40,000 mile AVS 2 service, with haldex change and brake fluid change.

I have been quoted £510 for the whole lot by HR OWEN audi in colindale, which i figured was a decent deal, considering ive had 2 S3's before and was charged about £650 for the same service!!!!

Do you guys mind giving me your opinion, i know i can save a bit by going to AMD etc...... but id rather have the car looked at by audi, just for the service stamp side of it

Any comments greatly received

Many thanks!!!

I paid £500 in January at SKF Bolton for exactly the same on my '02 A3 Quattro

If your under a warranty with Audi then getting it serviced by them is probably best, just incase they find a fault, so you can get it repaired at the same time. But if you don't have a warranty and AMD are cheaper then take it there mate as they actually appreciate the business and are very professional. Whether you have Full Audi/Audi Specialist service history when you come to sell won't make any difference to the price (condition and mileage do).

To answer your question I think my last service was £320. In between I did both the haldex and brake fluid changes and they both cost around £80 IIRC. So the price you've been quoted is OK.

Hi all
Just booked my S3 in at john fox notts for 60k service and brake fluid change, haldex oil change prices are £191 service 60k
£ 51.35 brake fluid change
£ 51.14 haldex
and the service is £167 if i supply my own oil,is that a good price or not gents ?
Cheers "Bingo"

if its out of warranty then take it to an audi specialist is what ive learnt from most of the experts on this forum.

I got mine (2nd AVS, haldex and brake) done at Camerons of Perth in Jan and it was 550 incl Vat including replacing a CV boot. I think it would have been closer 400 without the CV boot and i got my car picked up from work inGlasgow and left a courtesy for the day. All done in one day.

But then that was Jan.

Yes. I bought my first A4 from them in 2001. The PDI was the best on any car I've ever bought, and the after sales care was pretty good, too.

I popped in there last Saturday, and the chief technical guy gave my current car a once over & confirmed on the spot that it's a Drive-By-Wire car, and he can retro-fit a cruise control just as soon as I can rustle up the cash.
