bypass for cats 1.8 t

hi all

been look around at sites and came across exhaust cut outs. would it be possible to use a cut
out before the cat and and run a bypass pipe past the cat and back to the main exit pipe.

saving time & money on de-cats or sports cats, would it still pass an m.o.t as the bypass can be closed

to run the cat, these seam very popular in the states.

has anyone done the same here in the uk ?????

Thats interesting, but a lenient MOT tester is a much tidier solution. ;-)

nah wouldnt consider it far too much going on, could be problematic and not enough gain too be had for the amount of work, you can always find a tester who wont mind overlooking a decat

why would you think they bypass the cat ?
they are normal used to make the car louder that just wouldnt work to bypass a cat
it wouldnt save time of money

it would bez, doesnt show it but its to be used with a exhaust Y section. Your thinking of an EX-UP valve

yes sportstractor you are right you would have to use a y section before the cat with the bypass mounted
in the line to the cat just after the y section, i think will ahve to make some pics up to explain tomorrow.
