Hi all,
I've been toying with the idea of getting another car recently.
The current car is a 1998 A3 1.8T with a stage 1 remap which I've had for 3 years now. It's now 14 years old and is just shy of 170,000 miles, although it's running pretty much spot on.
It's mot is up in a month, so when that's done I'll be looking at selling it and getting another.
I've been looking at S3's and they are well within my budget but I'm unsure what the difference is between engines. I think from what I've seen, the early ones are the 210bhp AMK engine and the later ones are the 225bhp Bam engine.
I'm looking at buying a standard car and then getting more out of it, remap etc myself.
So does it matter which engine code I get to start with, with upgrading it in mind or does it make any difference?
