Ebay 3inch downpipe and decat

On my 1.8t AUM I can get the above from ebay for about 90 quid, is it possible to use just the downpipe and attach it to the original cat?

If not is it easy to swap back for the MOT?

If it were me, i'd buy a sport-cat and have that welded into the downpipe where the stock cat usually sits.
