Had my car in at the start of the year were they stripped the whole front drivers door to fit a new lock. Of course got charged a fortune.
Yesterday my window stopped half way down on the drivers side. Phoned Audi, dropped it down and just got off the phone with them to say that it is the regulator and that's gonna cost a little under 500 pound to sort. Bit raged and said to them that's not on and I'm not paying.

This can't be right can it. Can someone help with this issue??

Also just went to eBay there and priced a new regulator for like 23 pound, anyone with any experience with this would be great.

It will just be the clips that have broken I expect... its a very common issue on these cars... there are a couple of threads covering this already so try having a search... would advise maybe using Google ... I used the phrase 'window clip site:audi-sport.net' and found a few posts on about this... here is one for starters :)

I have the same window problem, my local Audi wanted £400 for the window motor?!! I said motor is fine just need regulator and it was £90 but my window does go up with help so I think clips are fine but as much as I love audis hate there costs but it's the price we pay for owning such great motors! Willbe popping down to mine on Friday to get a new maf and coolant sensor will try and see if they honour the rust issue on my roof fingers crossed

Cheers guys for the link and advice. Does anyone have a clue about the regulator on eBay that I have linked??

I have heard some horror story about trying to fit the eBay ones I will just buy the Audi one as its meant to be less of a pig to fit mate but the choice is urs

What is anyone doing taking a 9 year old car to a main dealers? £110+ per hour for what is essentially a parts replacement service with over priced parts at that, which Audi don't even manufacture half the time. No diagnosis, just new parts until the fault goes away. Find a good VAG specialist my friend and save a fortune.

I've never fitted a regulator but I have fitted the re-inforced clips.

The clips on my driver side failed when I lowered the window going into a car park. When I'd parked the window wouldn't go back up.

Fortunately I had a small teng tool kit (came free with a magazine subscription) - it had all I needed to remove the door card and raise the window glass backup. I then unplugged the motor so it wouldn't lower again until I could fix it. The motor was getting quite warm because it was stuck in the wrong position. I guess it might burn out if you're not careful.

From what I remember - be exact about marking the screws which hold the upper frame of the door as it's a b***h to reposition correctly if you get it wrong (door won't seal/close properly)

Just get stuck in, take photos, use the proper tools, save £470.
