20v and 5V are the same engines like others have said. '5V' is Audi history from the late 80's IMSA engines, Audi 90 with UR running gear and 5 pot engines but with a 25 valve head

So why did they go back to a standard 16v head for the 2.0T, was it cost or perhaps something to do with DI?

I think (and don't quote me on this) it's because the TFSI engines have direct cylinder injection to allow better fuelling control.

5 valves AND an injector in the cylinder head chamber is probably just a bit too much!

I thought thats what it would be, its what i refered to as DI, and thanks for the replies.

Yeh, you simply cant fit 5 valves, a spark plug and DI injector into the combustion chamber.
