hi maybe someone can help i have just got hold of a 1997 a3 1.8t its covered 150k and hasnt been looked after to well
when i got it the turbo was dead so replaced it with a good used one i have removed the dv it was split and pluged the holes i have bypass the pcv and renewed all the vac pipes iv been though all the boost pipes and replaced all the bad ones iv changed the plug oil and filter and iv cleaned the tb with carb cleaner and changed the n75
then i put it on vag com and cleared all the old codes the only code it has now that keeps coming up is 16500 so i replaced the temp sensor and it still comes up every time i drive it
but the main problem is the lack of power it idles spot on no hunting any more when driven the boost comes in well 8 to 9 psi but it make my gauge needle rattle when at 3000 rpm with foot hard down the boost gauge flicks to -15 vac then raises back up to 7 ish then as the revs go up the boost goes down and by 5000 rpm its running 1 psi
iv had loads of turbo cars over the years from unos the cossies and have never had this much trouble getting someting to run as it should
