Needed... a willing volunteer in a standard S3

I have had an idea and its not often i have those

There is always debate about how quick a remaped car is vs a standard car. so.....

need a willing volunteer with a standard S3 to help with some tests.

please note .... this is NOT a street race ala my todge is bigger than yours

I will try and find a section of long, straight private road to conduct this test.

test i hope to conduct will be standing start over a set distance and 30mph rolling start over a set distance.

I am in the east anglia area (Cambridge) and would be looking for a stretch of road locally.

    anyone interested?

Re: Needed... a willing volunteer in a standard S3

cool, i'll get onto finding a strech of track / road.

my friend will video the test

cars must both have a full tank of fuel and if you get your 18s that will be even better to even things out.

rolling start test will be at 30mph and will be done in 2nd gear and 3rd gear (2 separate tests)

i dont want speeds going over 100mph either.... just to be on the safe side

i'll be in touch via PM

    watch this space everyone

perfect... yours is 210 bhp isnt it bioharry!

so we will have 210 vs 225 vs 260ish

do you both have digital video cameras?? it would be good to get a few different angles on this

yup, got a digital cam, might be able to persuade my mate to come down and help with the pics/videos etc too..

(doubt i will have my 18s by then - 2 front tyres are new, need to wear em out first!)

would be intersting having a TDi 130 standard and a remapped one, and against the S3 stanard and mapped one too, what u think? u think a diesel can keep the pace?

lets just keep it simple to start with... i have a few ideas of location but i need to confirm them first

if i manage to get the place i want then we can see about inviting more cars with different engines.

Re: Needed... a willing volunteer in a standard S3

My Girlfriend lives in Bury St Edmunds, so I'm up there quite a bit. My S3's just been remapped (although apparently 245bhp - I will post this in the forum when I have a chance to scan in the dyno plots), so I wouldn't be much use but I'd be interested to be there, and can offer a video camera?

Let me know when and where, and if i'd be of any use.

    ROb.

Sorry Nathan i don't have a vid camera. I could get my girlfriend to take some arty shots of the cars though.

We could also do a Porsche vs OEM vs ??? brake test. 2 or 3 high speed brakes will spereate the men from the boys so to speak.

I think it was due to it being too hot. Rich got a similiar thing when his car was mapped. Will try and get the things scanned in tonight.

A standard S3 will leave a chipped Tdi quattro behind in a straght line I think.

    Ianhg,

if you can revert yours back to standard we could do a similar thing... I'm sure i still have enough contacts at your place to persuade them to let me to join you

I had my boss GSXR600 @ 140+ mph down that same runway some 6 years or so ago....

    Jedi,

I'm sometimes up in the cambs area (my parents live in Peterborough). My S3 is supposedly modded to 275bhp (that's what the receipt says) although I haven't dyno'd it. I randomly met the previous owner who said he had it record 271 bhp on a dyno and 280 lbft! If you tell me when you plan to do the tests I might be able to arrange to be in the area.

No. The re-map was done by Scott's Audi when they existed in London. The part number starts SKN, which someone on here said would indicate the mod was an SKN (German mod company) one authorised by an Audi dealership.

I'm in Harpenden, so a nice drive to Cambrdige. I'd be up for it if you wanted to throw a Revo into the mix!
