    Timing problems....Resulting in cambelt failure!!

    Aaaaaarrrrgggghhhh!!!!
    I've been having loads of timing issues with my APY S3, running a stage 1 REVO map its throwing up code 17745 which is camshaft sensor fault g40 short to ground. When logging on vcds its showing blocks of 7+ which clearly isn't correct. There is a little mid-range hesitation, I swapped the sensor three times to experiment, always with genuine Audi parts and still the same result. I checked the wiring and multimetred the output and it was showing 5v so thats all good.
    Only thing I can now think of is that I have a recon head. I didn't realise this at first when I bought the car. The issues can't of been because the cambelt was a tooth out ( it was changed in october ) or it would have driven like an absolute sack!!!
    Anyway car was a nightmare this morning so I opened it up and found the cambelt was uber frayed and really, really loose. Car had been really suffocated, hesitant and unwilling thats why I opened her up.....Its buggered.
    I'm now looking at getting a AGU head to replace the crappy recon one and hoping that and a cambelt change fixes it>
    Any suggestions or ideas to what may have caused this welcome!!!!

    I would of thought it might of been your tensioner?
    Stroked 2067cc (2.1) S3. AEB Ported & Gas flowed head, Piper cams, Valve + Spring kit, Big intercooler, IE rods, JE Pistons, CP rings, Milltek, GTX3076r Turbo, External Gated, 870cc injectors, Twin pumps, Wide Band conversion, ALD Custom inlet with R32 T/B, MkV TSI Coilpacks conversion, Fluidampr pulley, 4kg Billet steel flywheel, 4 paddle clutch, Coilovers, R32 rear ARB, Blue Haldex, 350mm 6 pots fronts & 330mm rears. Going for 550bhp, 600bhp with new injectors and more boost

    Sorry Jarod I can't afford a beer now...Just done rear calipers discs and pads, mot, tax, starter motor, haldex controller and I treated myself to a new number plate s3 *&% because I got it for a good deal...oh yeah and two new tyres. And a couple of bulbs. Also getting married in 5 months. Now this!!!!! Wish I kept the A3 now, never gave me problems as stressful as this and all the hard work was done, I havn't even started modifying this yet.
    Andrew: would the tensioner cause such timing issues like block of 7s? I know it sounds silly but I think the timing problems were there before the cambelt died....
