Personally I can't see little point in spending monster money on the Stack.

This is just as good, and matches the interior perfectly -

Especially when mounted properly like Prawn and I have it...

It's hand made, Prawn and I have got the same thing. My mount isn't as tidy as his, but it still looks good, it is part of the head lining wrapped around a custom shaped pod.

Some pics of my pillar pod

Just covered the pillar with a webbed tape so didn't damage the cloth and it also ment it could be pulled off to be cut and smooved out

The only downside was i cut a hole in the piller for the cables and pipe but besides that is very easy to remove as just clips over the pillar

Haven't you got a center exit exhaust?

    Oh the irony...

You say you get what you pay for, but with something like a boost gauge if it works and reads accuratly then it works. I would rest my life on your gauge being no more accurate than mine, and having no longer life. So why pay more? It doesn't look bad at all, if anything it is a better match than the Stack gauge! I can't stand that sort of snobbery.

Prawns Swoosh gauge has been in his car for over 3 years and 100,000 miles and it is still perfect.

Yup, mine was cheap, and looks fairly cheap, but it works, and it's about the best match for the pre facelift clocks that I've seen.

Reads bang on though, in the car over 4 years now, and still reads exactly the same as the digital map read out from my EBC

You really reckon its the best match?

Looking at Staceys he's got in line with the dials looks 100%..and looks lilke it's meant to be there.

Putting on the swoosh is fine in principle...but it has a silver frame, which dosen't match the interior of the car.

It works, great....but it dosn't match as well as the stack would, hense why for a flawless interior - i'll be installing the stack gauge - that my mrs got me for valentines day ;-)

You do realise though that to get the stack gauge numbers to light up red you have to take it apart and paint behind the face then it gives you the red numbers and white needle combo which matchs the facelift clocks, i only copied it off of tuffty and s3kev as i think kev done a thread on how to do it

Yep 100% aware, little effort for quality end result goes a long way. any particular paint to use? I imagine some airfix paint will do the job

No, it requires dismantling, and painting red at the back.

Staceys stack guage looks perfect in his S3 yes I agree. Wouldn't look right in a pre facelift A3 though, as they have red numbers and red needles too, hence the cheapy swoosh being the closest match for pre facelift.

I'm not arsed about interior looks though, I havn't even got carpet or a head lining :P

Autometer do guages like that, I've seen a few before. Won't match anything inside the car though!

In my daily I've got a liquid gauge in the airvent, which obviously is a perfect OEM style match, but in the track car I have the swoosh cheapy job, as the EBC has a digital map readout anyway, I just prefer a mechanical guage in my sight line to keep a check on things. It's got no interior anyway, so matching up is hardly an issue.
