I put the car into the garage to get a breather pipe replaced. When they replaced the pipe and smoke tested it, they discovered to turbo itself was loose, they tightened that up but still I'm not feeling the whoomph effect I had before this problem.
The turbo used to kick in from 2000 Rpm and the car went like a scalded cat. Now it just limps its way up through the rev range. The garage said the turbo appears to have had a new valve installed (forgot the actual name) recently but can't explain the loss of power.
The turbo is still spinning up but it's not delivering the power expected. There's no leaks, any ideas?

Also the ESP light is coming on and VCDS is showing a faulty lateralG sensor. Any ideas how to fix this?

Im putting the car in next month for a full service and get all the faults fixed on it while it's in.
Also, nearly forgot, when I put the foot down and get a tiny bit of boost, the car stutters at 4.5k RPM and just goes kinda meh!

Hopefully some of yous can lend some suggestions to the above problems. I love driving this car but these niggly faults are starting to put me off!

Really need feedback/advice guys. My oil light came on tonight despite there being maximum showing on the dipstick. The car now sounds like its sucking the last of the juice out of a McDonalds cup and it's lost power. This happened about 400 yards from my house. I just made it home. Temperature is reading ok and it's idling ok and the oil light goes away when I start it.

Any ideas?

Well ESP light on was faulty sensor in my case, but im sure that the first port of call is gonna be VAGCOM for error codes.

Hard to diagnose on word of mouth. There is a sticky for members in the uk with the kit.

Good luck.

It was flashing so looks like its an oil pressure issue. Guess its a garage issue now!

Considering the sucking....oil pump. But like i said theres 101 things it "could be" VAG-COM is Job 1

Defo sucking noise! Here's hoping its not a new engine job. I drove it nearly half a mile to get home thinking it was just an oil level light and having just checked the level.
I bought this car as I thought it would make a reliable daily. I can't really afford for it to break on me. It took all my savings to buy this. :(

Got a call from the garage today, the pickup was all sludged up and the pump was knackered, also the turbo's impeller came loose and one of the pins/bolts that hold everything in place came out and rattled about inside the turbo destroying everything.

New turbo it is now, can't afford a new one so having to go recon.
Any issues with a recon turbo?

Hi dude, sorry to see all your trouble, oil pick up is a ****** when not caught in time.

Why where they messing with your turbo? And no problems from a recon unit if done properly. What have you been quoted for a recon k04?

I already had a seperate issue with the turbo mate, I had a separate post about that problem where I tried replacing a leaking breather pipe but it still never cured the problem. It was then it was picked up that the turbo had came loose and I got it to a specialist to check over it. Sorry for the confusion LOL

For all the work with new Turbo, it's near he £2k mark, slightly less with a recon turbo. I nearly fainted!

Got my car back last night. It seems like the turbo was a cheap nasty copy which explains why it broke. Also the oil pick up pipe has been off before but was completly blocked. Someone hadnt cleaned it out before refitting it. Someone really bodged the car up. Could have been the garage I bought it from but I'll never know.

Just glad to have it back now.

I have the same problem with mine apart from the oil issues would like to clean the same oil pip due to my car has done 120k if possible could someone point out the pipe on a picture etc :) would be appreciated
Cheers
