    HELP PLEASE!possible fan problem????

    evening all
right lastweek temp gauge started going dodgy and eml light came up,so i changed the temp guage sender and was still getting dodgy readings, so today iv had the thermostat changed as it has been stock open hence the temp gauage giving me daft readings.

all seems ok and is now going up to 90degrees as normal but its just staying at 90 for ages until the fan comes on even when driving,im pretty sure that usually when i start my engine on a morning the fans kick stright in for the climate control and are always running uless you press the econ button?

am i right in thinking this should be happening guys as the fans are not working when i start the car anymore, hope you understand what i mean as im not up to scratch on what should and shouldnt be happening, haha???

So whats the problem then mate? If its staying at 90degrees then its fine. Fans will only come on to cool it down.

To be fair i cant say iv ever noticed my fans come on straight away from start up, i may be wrong(usually am) but hopefully somone with more knowledge may help out here, but id say your car is fine if it goes to 90 and dosent move, maybe your faulty stat was telling the fans to come on as it was stuck open ? Id pm some of the knowledge gods on here if its somthing thats really bugging you.

yerh mate, usually when i start the engine the air cons fans start running and constantly do unless i press the econ button on the climate controll unit, think this may of not been happening as if iv heard correctly if the temperature is under 5degrees the aircon fans do not engage,
it might be just me been funny, but when im driving around the temp just contantly sits at 90degrees,even if im driving down the motorway surely with the wind force it shouldnt still show 90degrees always?????????

I'm pretty sure the engine management tells the temp gauge to just sit at exactly 90 even if the water temp is a few degrees either way, everything sounds normal with what you've said to me mate

Yeah it's a thing the vw Audi group do, between 75-105 (or something like that), the gauge will show 90. Presumably to give the impression of quality and to stop over worrying customers bringing their cars into the dealers. If you press recirc and up button then select 49c, it will show the actual engine temp

right sat in the car and started it up,temp gauge said 60degrees,,so i then did what you said and accessed through the climate control to number 49c,and it brought up the temp and that also said 60degrees,more or less stayed with the in car temp guage as that moved, but when the in car temp needle hit 90degrees,,the number on the climate just sat between 84-85???? this about right ??
