Thomas Build - next 2 months.

This is more for a focal point so i can do a step by step checklist - but welcome any comments / suggestions / points to look out for ->

    Currently running 1.8T QS

FMIC - Seen the kit for £300ish - but is the Forge on really worth the £600?

Seen S3 injectors for £50 on ebay (pre-owned), any other 380cc alternatives?

I'm of the opinion to get the car to cool efficiantly before i slap on the new turbo.

Still cant justify the £1000 ish pricetag for a KO3s Hybrid + the manifold to fit it...but is stainless steel manifold a must?

somebody correct me if im wrong, but a k03/k03s hybrid will fit straight on to a k03 manifold and they flow pretty good from what iv seen people say also people are getting them ported so they flow even better, i know bill @ badger 5 can do this service.

oooook..... if you are going K03 hybrid then you don't need to change the exhaust manifold... K03 hybrid is designed to be used with a std mani which is better flow wise than the std K04 one tbh... Bill has ported these to get better flow from them...

I assume you are going hybrid as using S3 injectors on a K03s is pointless and the map won't thank you for it..

Assuming you are going K03 hybrid then you will need to be looking at the following... S3/TT/LCR MAF housing (essentially a housing from any of the K04 transverse VAGs), silicon TIP (can't remember which one), 3" downpipe, FMIC, cone filter (for the larger MAF housing), S3/TT/LCR 386cc injectors and a custom map (not stage 1 or 2)

Things that should be high on the list is rods... K03's are spikey boost wise and hybrids are no different... I think the engine you have will have 19mm pins so even more of a reason to do them...

The other thing to consider is uprating the fuel pump... having been involved in a number of these types of conversions on Ibizas I have seen the pumps struggle... as yours is a TQS then I suspect the S3 4bar pump should be a straight swap but not done one so can't say for sure...

Some 180hp cars already have the same pump as an S3.

I'll need the year and engine code if you want me to confirm it.

Fair to say then, the Turbo is on-off....which is a big thumbs up.

The injectors are really in relation to whatever turbo i get, but it's looking like a hybrid now i know it's straight swap.

Speaking to a guy here who builds KO3 hybrids.....we will see how much his time is soon.
