    Induction sound

Hi all abit of a long one but wondering if anyone can shed some light on the situ.

Iv had an apexi(think thats what its called) air filter on my car for a few months now, get a quiet induction sound from it, but its been looking abit grubby and needs a clean, so a mate of mine gave me his old quicksilver filter thats in good nick that was on his golf gti turbo, all i can say is i sound like a meaty hoover and the dump sound from my 007p sounds awsome. Is the filter ok?lol it looks the same as my one but its silver on the outside and blue on the inside, where as mine is red with blue inside, iv not noticed any performance gains but the noise has totaly changed? Any ideas if the filter is faulty? It never sounded like that on my mates 1.8t, also iv noticed i spank him silly in a drag to 60(my own private run way of course lol) iv often wondered if my car is remapped but havent got any kind of vag/ross tech to have a look if somone gets a move on with organising a dyno day at badger5 then id much appreciate an invite thanks to all for any suggestions.

My carborino sounds like a god damn henry hoover on half trottle, with this really nice high-pitched whistle as it sucks in...

Coming on hard throttle then shift does that scattering dump-valve sound....epic.

Yeh my carbonio sounded good, just worried bout big puddles, as when i changed the filter it was caked in s**t. And yeh im all about the noise :D i like dumpvalves but they are just wrong on a 1.8t imo, this sound is much better, only problem with the 1.8t is a tick box on idle, well mine is lol

hahaha big puddles, i'll take a filter down by the cold air - than one 6 inches from the engine block...but it is cleaned every month along with the usual fluid checks and wd40.

It came with a Bailey dump valve, and this talk about the forge 007p can be put on the back burner, i like a big whoosh buildup then it kinda scatters off and it bloody loud, high pitched whistle aint my thing.

I take no chances with puddles lol not worth an engine rebuild if the a38 is abit water logged :-/ and yeh i had a bailys dv26 but my AUM 1.8t didnt get along with it, i know the AGU can cope with a dumpvalve but i know it puts extra wear on other components, il post a vid on yt of my engine noise with just a cone filter and 007p, driving down the road it sounds like i have an atmospheric dv.
