    S3 Clock question

hey guys, iv got myself a mk3 golf and am doing a s3 dash conversion just a few questions really

iv seen a wiring harness adapter from germany which will allow me to connect my mk3 loom to a3 clocks....

just want to know if the s3 clocks are the same on the rear/ connection points etc as normal a3 ones....

also iv been doing some searching on google on this and have come up with that s3 clocks need to be programmed to the ecu? is this correct? and is it just s3 ones which need this done (aka are a3 ones fine and dont need programming)

any info would be great on the clocks, thanks

I dont know how the golfs would take an Audi clock but yes all clocks should have the same connections on the rear.

the clocks themselves would have different dials in them depending on what car they came from (diesel clocks have lower rev counters then petrols)
Also yes the clock needs to be coded to the immobiliser otherwise the car will not start. this is the case with our A3s but im not sure if that will be the same with your golf as there will be lots of differences with the 2 cars (especially with the age difference of the cars)

what year cluster are you trying to fit in?

sorry to say that you may not get much luck with advice on this one as its a total custom install... and tbh the guys are finding it hard enough getting the older clocks upgraded to newer like for like audi clocks... let alone an older mk3 golf with a newer a3 clock.

thats of some help so thank you.
im doing a s3 dash conversion into the golf, all fits up great, just after reading up on google, i did come across about the immobiliser issue.

Im using the clocks from an X reg, 2000 plate s3 so believe preface lift version.

The company i spoke to in germany said that they have a wiring harness which will allow normal A3 clocks to be installed into a mk3.

wondering if i could go down a simple route of having the ecu deimmobilised so the clocks wouldnt effect it... if that would work at all

ahh right well that is the 8l model. so its best if you either post in that section or get a mod to move this thread to that section.
