Nothing for free? I think not....

It pays to ask. My insurance renewal was due today and the current company (adrian flux) quoted a renewal at Ł960.

I contacted direct line last week who wanted Ł400 (before the A4 page of mods) and Ł700 afterwards...

I phoned adrian flux today in the vain hope of an improved quote (never worked before but always worth a go) - now they quote Ł699.... nice.

Result!

Is your other half on there David? It lowered mine by Ł100 by sticking the misses on the insurance...

ooo I'd swap an "expert wheel kerber" anyday for a "can't work out where the boot/bonet is so I'll stop when I hit something"

I would personally go with direct line out of the principle... If they can quote that price now why not before...robbing gits.....

A good point, but direct line were cack handed in handling and detailing the mods... They were given 14 days to confim my mods and never did...

Adrian flux have every last modified screwhead listed so there can be no debate in the event of a claim.

Re: Nothing for free? I think not....

I'm a bit p1ssed off with Adrian Flux too and will try and go elsewhere next time unless of course they've significantly got the best offer.
My problem was that they insured me through Royal Sun Alliance who apparently won't cover me (or anyone else) for tuning mods so if i want to go through with an upgrade i'll have to cancel with them (with penalty and loss of year's no claims) and get requoted with another company who'll insure me on a chipped A3TQ.

For a company who claims to specialise in 'hot hatches' for want of a better phrase, they should really have known better than to even deal with RSA in the first place. So now i'm forced to fork out or wait another 5 or 6 months for my policy to expire before i can get chipped up.

Has anyone else had a similar problem?

The renewal quotes are almost always more expensive, pays to shop around then going back to the original quoter for a better price.

Sounds like buyer beware to me. You approach a company with a standard car and you got the cheapest quote (which is what we are all after) given the car wasn't modified and given they didn't know then it is not unreasonable to put you with a non modification freindly insurer.

Adrian flux have been very good with the cars I have insured although as with everything you need to be explicit about the car and potential plans at the outset.

They are a great insurer for modifications. Took me ages to fill out the forms but they do go nito a decent depth for the modifications... I'm certainly happy with them!

I did the same with Adrian flux, and had two companies competing against each other in the end, but Adrian Flux won as they had a lower Excess and were better with Mods

Out of curiosity and probably not in the right forum, I am having a new cat back system fitted next Wednesday, has anyone bothered telling their insurers about this or do you just leave it out?

Also wher is Adrian Flux based? I have still a while to go on my insurance from Sainsbury's Bank but better to be prepared even though I wasn't a Scout.

Yep, you should tell your insurance about this.
